The Journey Begins
Someone gave me the idea to log and track my journey. In class, we talk about goal setting, and as part of that conversation, we encourage students to share their goals with others. It creates a network of support, encouragement and accountability. Today, I share my goal to become a master in Songahm Taekwondo. I’m planning to share a bit each day with you all on how I’m feeling, things on my mind and my training logs.
SO…. Here we go. I’m not really sure how I’m feeling right now. I think back to my first day on the mats in Duluth, MN at UMD as a freshman in college. I knew I wanted to do martial arts since I was 12, but didn’t know what to expect. I think I am in that same boat now. At the school, for each color belt, we have a “superpower”… for white belts, that is Courage. I think I’m going to draw upon that one today.
As part of my requirements, there are expectations to train on your own 3x/week. Tomorrow will be the first of these workouts this week.
Today, while I was teaching, here are a few of the things we worked on.
- Songahm 1-5
- Several rounds of sparring with leadership students, brown-black belts, and adult color belts
I don’t know how to end a post, so I’ll just say, “see ya tomorrow”
